A man is fighting for his life in hospital after a hit-and-run collision in Harrow .

Police are appealing for witnesses after the serious crash near Harrow and Wealdstone station .

The crash happened at around 11.45pm on Saturday night (August 5).

The driver failed to stop at the scene of the collision with the pedestrian in Gladstone Avenue, near the junction with Palmerston Road.

The pedestrian, a man aged in his 60s, was taken by London Ambulance Service to hospital where his condition is critical.

The incident came exactly one month after a man was injured after a hit-and-run collision in Wealdstone 's busy town centre.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "The driver of the car failed to stop at the scene.

"The vehicle is described as a dark coloured hatchback - there is no further description at this time.

"Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Alperton are investigating."
