Passengers at Victoria Station are being warned they may be impacted after police were called to deal with a situation on Monday (September 12) morning.

Officers from British Transport Police (BTP) were called to the station at around 4am after receiving reports of a vulnerable man in a precarious position at the top of an escalator at the station.

Officers were still at the scene as the incident stretched into the afternoon, with a spokesperson for BTP saying an area has been cordoned off while specialists engage with the man in in a bid to safely rescue him.

Train services are currently running as normal, with no impact on services, but commuters using the station may be impacted.

Last month roads around Victoria Coach Station were closed following the discovery of a ‘suspect package’.

Hundreds of bus users were also evacuated from the station and police cordons put in place.

However, the all clear was soon given with services returning to normal.
