Time is running out for residents and users of Dukes Meadows to have their say on the future of the site.

A consultation is under way to transform the grounds in Chiswick into a major sports and recreation site.

Views can be given until December 23 and gives people the chance to share their views on the initial proposals for the park which include opportunities and improvements to spruce it up.

Dukes Meadows is mixed use 230 acre site with private and public sport and recreational grounds, three well used allotments, a riverside embankment, two quality playgrounds and a promenade.

The major sports hub in Hounslow has a number of activities on site including football, cricket, rowing, golf and tennis as well as a health club and community activities.

Last month, people in Hounslow had the chance to view the initial options and meet council officers along with the consultant team from Continuum and provide any feedback.

Councillor Steve Curran, leader of Hounslow Council , said: “We are pleased to be progressing with this very exciting plan for Dukes Meadows and we are keen to hear the views of residents and users of the park.

"Let us know what you think.”

Earlier this year, the council commissioned a review to look at the current condition and use of the grounds and consider any improvements.

This was followed by consultation workshops and meetings with stakeholders where the following modifications were identified:

  • Enhancing the landscape character of the site
  • Improving the formal sports offer and informal opportunities to improve health and wellbeing
  • Consider Chiswick Boathouse as a 'catalyst' for a centre for water sports
  • Look at plans that would reconnect the Thames Path by exploring the provision of a towpath bridge
  • Restoring the nature conservation areas

The review highlighted improving existing sports facilities, easier access to the site and traffic issues surrounding the meadows.
