Police have released images of two men they wish to identify following a "violent" stabbing in Oxford Street.

Westminster Police is appealing for witnesses after a 32-year-old victim was approached by two white males at the Tottenham Court Road end of Oxford Street between around 4.15am and 4.30am on September 30.

Police say the two men were aged in their late teens to early 20s.

After a brief verbal altercation, one of the men stabbed the victim a number of times in the back and slashed him across the face.

The victim was treated for serious injuries at a central London hospital.

According to police, he has since recovered.

Do you recognise these men?

"This was a shockingly violent attack that escalated from a petty late-night argument," said investigating officer, detective constable Jamie Grocott.

He added: "There is no justification for such violence and it is only by good fortune that the victim's injuries were not life-threatening.

"It is very important that these men are identified as soon as possible."

Anyone who is able to identify the men in the pictures should call Westminster CID on 101.

Alternatively, those wishing to remaining anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
