A pedestrian remains in hospital following a collision with a cyclist in Oxford Street .

The 40-year-old woman was left with severe head injuries and was taken to a central London hospital, with her condition described as “ life threatening ”.

Police from Westminster were called to reports of a road traffic collision at 4.29pm on Tuesday (September 12).

The woman’s next of kin have been informed, while the cyclist involved in the collision stopped at the scene.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “The pedestrian, a woman in her 40s suffered a severe head injury.

“The injured woman was taken to a central London hospital where her condition has been deemed life threatening.

“Next of kin are aware and at the hospital.”

Road closures were in place for several hours in Oxford Street, which was closed in both directions between Davies Street and Duke Street, while officers investigated.

Buses were placed on diversion but Tube stations remained unaffected.

Police said no arrests have been made and officers from Westminster are investigating.

Police confirmed the pedestrian remained in a critical condition on Wednesday September 13.
