A new cycling skills area for youngsters is among a £356,000 upgrade planned at Osterley Park and House .

The practice spot in a small area of woodland is part of wide scale changes planned at the National Trust property in Isleworth .

They include a new 500-metre path and improvements to 3.5km of existing paths to create a multi-use trail beginning and ending at the main car park.

New signage would also be installed and existing routes into the estate would be resurfaced under the proposals.

The National Trust, which has teamed up with Sport England and other charities to produce the plans, is seeking the public's views before submitting a planning application to Hounslow Council .

"Osterley is already a popular place to walk, run, take a stroll with the dog and for children to learn to cycle," it said in a statement.

Proposals for improvements to pathways through Osterley Park

"By upgrading the surface of our paths and signage we hope to enrich this experience and encourage more local families to get outdoors and active in a safe, traffic-free, green space."

The new cycle training space would be used for the park's existing Bikeability sessions, through which more than 100 children learnt to ride for the first time at the site last summer.

Osterley Park hosts a broad range of sports, including 5km parkruns through the grounds, and canoeing sessions on the middle lake.

The planned improvements are part of a £4.25m programme across 10 National Trust properties in England, in partnership with Sport England and other charitable trusts.

You can learn more about the plans at a series of drop-in sessions in the park's Stables Brewhouse on: Saturday, June 4, from 10am-1pm; Monday, June 6, from 6pm-9pm; and Friday, June 17, from 6pm-9pm.

Scenes from the ITV drama Doctor Thorne were filmed at Osterley Park , which has also doubled as Batman's Wayne Manor in The Dark Knight Rises.
