An opera singer from Chiswick who has worked with the likes of Michael Bublé and Beyoncé has secured funding to turn her dream of opening a hub for families into a reality.

Katie Sayles started running weekly pop-up children’s music classes across west London in Barnes, Chiswick and Notting Hill which quickly became oversubscribed.

In response to a lack of facilities in the area, the search for a bigger, permanent home where parents and pre-school children could go to have fun in West London began.

Now the 29-year-old has secured £320k through Crowdtube and an overseas investor, Katie’s House - The Family Club - will open its door on the borders of Chiswick and Acton, in September 2016.

It will provide facilities including play areas, baby and toddler classes, brasserie dining, events and host children’s parties, and will be a place where families with young children can come to spend time together instead of dropping the little ones off to nurseries and crèches.

Miss Sayles said her mum who suffered from post natal depression inspired her to create a welcoming space for parents and children to enjoy each other’s company and feel supported.

With Katie’s endless list of talents, the cultural hub for families is sure to be a hit after years of being a nanny, babysitting, leading ‘Tiny Maestros’ music making sessions, specialising in Early Years education and performing as a cellist and singer with many world renowned artists.

She said: “Chiswick was one of three areas where I ran Tiny Maestros and we subsequently set up a Katie’s Club!

“It is one of our “homes” of the business and we were lucky to be offered a fantastic site in partnership with an existing award winning leisure club.”

Katie is originally from Dorset but moved to west London 10 years ago to study and hasn’t looked back since living in Barnes, Richmond and Chiswick since she relocated to the capital.
