A one-year-old boy has died after he was struck by a car in Kensington on Monday (March 7) evening.

The boy was with a member of his family at Hyde Park Gate when the incident happened at around 6.10pm.

He was taken by ambulance to a hospital in central London, where he died shortly before 10pm.

Next of kin have been informed, but the child has not yet been formally identified. His post mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

The car involved was a silver Toyota Prius, which stopped at the scene. The driver was not arrested and is helping police with their enquiries.

The incident is being investigated by detectives from the Met’s Serious Collisions Investigations Unit.
