A new firefighter has displayed untold bravery, by proposing to his girlfriend in front of a crowd at his graduation parade in Harrow.

Rory Colmer popped the big question to Emma Tucker on stage after calling in a favour with London Fire Brigade trainers after the ceremony.

Family and friends of the 26-year-old had attended the training squad’s firefighter graduation parade, when it was announced that a member of the crowd was allowed to come up to the front and stand with the 11 trainees and have their photo taken.

Event organisers pulled 25-year-old Emma’s name out of the hat before Rory, who will be stationed at Islington, did the rest.

The happy couple

She promptly said yes giving the crowds something more to celebrate.

The blushing bride-to-be later said: “Rory has embarrassed the life out of me. I was totally taken by surprise and I am so happy.

“We’ve been going out for eight years and only last week I said to my mum, it’s about time we got married!”
