A 28-year-old man from Northolt has been jailed for 15 years for his role in a series of robberies that saw £240,000 stolen in transit robberies across north London.

Ashley Waterman was arrested in the early hours of the morning October 31 last year alongside another member of the gang while they prepared to commit a robbery.

A handgun was recovered during the police operation which was later revealed to be an imitation firearm used in the robberies.

15 years in jail

Waterman, of Silverdale Close, was jailed for a total of 15 years and eight months for seven counts of conspiracy to rob between May 25 and October 31 last year, as well as possession of an imitation firearm during two robberies.

He was sentenced at the Old Bailey on Monday (October 10), and a further seven charges of conspiracy to rob will lie on file.

Robbed an empty cash box

Waterman's luck ran out in October last year when he robbed an empty cash box at a leisure park in Enfield.

The gang of five men were jailed for 15 robberies carried out by various members in Enfield, Haringey and Camden.

Waterman's first seven offences that he pleaded guilty to took place outside a Morrison's supermarket in Stamford Hilly in July last year.
