An Ealing primary school has been forced to close for the day after flooding.

North Ealing Primary School will not be open to pupils today (Wednesday, December 5).

The school, which is on Pitshanger Lane, announced the closure on Twitter.

Its tweet said: "PLEASE NOTE. Wednesday 5th Dec. The school will be closed today due to flooding.

"We will keep you updated. Please check website for updates."

A note on the school website uploaded at 6.30am added: "Due to flooding the school will be closed today.

"Please check here later for updates."

Reports elsewhere suggest parents of pupils at the school will be given more information on Thursday (December 6) about whether or not North Ealing Primary can reopen.

The cause of the flooding is not yet known.

Ealing Council has been contacted for a comment.

The school serves an area of Ealing known as Pitshanger Village.

It has more than 700 pupils and an Ofsted rating of "good".
