Additional security measures have been put in place for Norfest 2017, the annual festival at RAF Northolt.

Organisers of the family fun day have informed ticket holders on-site car parking will no longer be available and they will have to consent to enhanced security screening measures, including "100% bag checks".

Disabled ticket holders with blue badges will be allowed to park on-site but will have to subject to a search of their cars.

All other attendees have been asked to use public transport or find an alternative route to the festival.

Project officer, Wing Commander Gaz Littlechild, said: “Our first objective has to be the security and protection of the public.

"To this end, we are putting in place a full range of security measures in consultation with and as advised by the Metropolitan Police."

He continued: "We sincerely regret any inconvenience this causes but our first consideration is always everybody’s safety.

"I’m sure our local community will understand, in light of recent events, the reasons we are now required to take such measures.

"The whole team is working hard to ensure this causes as little disruption as is feasible and put on a brilliant day for our friends in the local community.

"We would like to thank everyone for their patience, support and understanding in advance.”

Tickets for Norfest, which will be held on July 22, sold out in hours with 7,500 people expected to flock to the west London airbase for the festivities.

As well as static aircraft displays, there will be a food court and children's entertainment.

In the performance area, The Queen’s Colour Squadron, RAF Regiment and Band of the RAF Regiment will entertain the local community.

A number of non-military groups will also be performing. These include BMX stunt bike group Savage Skills, who will both, local Cheerleader group The Babettes, Jay Kumar Bollywood Dancers and children’s entertainer Epico the Dragon.

More than 90 stalls will also display the best of the local community from vintage cars and arts and crafts to sports teams.

To top the evening off, a Dakota aircraft from the Royal Air Force’s Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will perform a fly-past.
