Isolated residents are to benefit from a new partnership which has been announced between Hanwell Big Local and Ealing Community Transport.

Ealing Community Transport will be providing a door-to-door service on request - costing £2.50 each way - to enable people to get to church, mosque, temple, community centres, exercise classes, job clubs, luncheon clubs and any other event or activity in the surrounding areas.

To register for the new service all people need to do is call ECT on 0208 813 3210, mention the Hanwell Big Local service, and book a journey.

People can also use the service to go shopping.

It will take residents to Greenford town centre, Hoover Tesco, West Ealing, Hobbayne Trust, Hanwell Broadway, Greenford Avenue shops and Ealing Broadway.

This service does not provide journeys to GPs and hospitals as this is available through other services - ECT can signpost you to these on request.

People eligible for the service must live in the Big Local Area: Gurnell Grove estate, Copley Close estate, Cuckoo estate between Framfield Road, Greenford Avenue and Ruislip Road East.

They must also either be residents of sheltered housing, an older person living independently, anyone with mobility issues, isolated parents who struggle to get to services and people with mental health issues.

Many older residents are missing out on the opportunity to claim Payment Protection compensation

A spokeswoman from Hanwell Big Local said: “We are keen for this service to be utilised by those most in need. This information needs to be shared to all residents and support services.

“We also have sponsored group travel for residents wanting to go on a trip - so if your group is arranging a day out - talk to ECT.

“Information about the service will be available at Hanwell Carnival and any other community event within the area over the summer to people to help register, and we can arrange to come to your centre at your event or regular activity to get people signed up if this would be helpful.

“You can also email ealing@ectcharity.co.uk and mention Hanwell Big Local service.”

Hanwell Big Local, a partnership made up of local residents, is a £1m pound fund for 10 years.
