A new free school founded by headteachers in Hounslow has begun its search for a principal.

Bolder Academy is due to open in September 2017 in the Brentford/Isleworth area, with the Grasshoppers RFC grounds in MacFarlane Lane, Osterley, believed to be the preferred location.

The secondary school was approved by the Government in March, at which time it was known as The HIP (Hounslow Improvement Partnership) School.

It was founded by headteachers from schools across the borough to meet the projected shortage of secondary school places.

The school's website declares its focus is appointing a principal designate, with the role due to be formally advertised next month and potential applicants invited to have an informal chat before then.

"Above all, our new leader will help others to participate as leaders, in response to changing educational and global business requirements," reads the message from Andrew Dodge, Bolder Academy's chair of governors designate.

Parents with children in years four or five at primary school have also been invited to register an interest via the website in sending them there.

The school's website states it is already building "strong relationships" with businesses in the area as part of a "bold approach to intertwining business and education".

It also says the founders are working closely with the council and the Education Funding Agency, which finances new schools, as they search for a principal, identify a suitable location and build up a network of supporters.

The school is due to have 150 year seven students in its opening year and will expand each year to eventually accommodate 1,150 pupils.
