Logic Studio School is getting ready to host its first open day ahead of opening in September 2016.

The school for pupils aged 14 to 19 is located on Browell's Lane, Feltham , and will coexist on the site at Feltham Community College, offering at least six weeks of work experience to all of its students as part of a new career-based learning ethos.

To give people a taste of what its pupils can expect, principal designate Jay Lockwood is inviting prospective students and their families to a full day of hands-on activities, run by experts, with workshops in logistics, computing, events and business alongside tours of the building, on November 18.

Mr Lockwood is calling this an opportunity to ‘experience the experience of work experience’.

He said: “The key to being able to offer work experience is having really good links with businesses and the local community.

“At Logic we have around 20 business partners – most notably DHL - who want to offer local students the opportunity to get to know, first hand, what career choices are available to them in the world of logistics.

“As we believe that the best way to learn is to experience it first hand, we’re offering a different kind of Open Day.

“Visitors can choose which work stations they are particularly interested in – logistics, computing, events, business – or they can even try them all out!"

There will be a leading wedding dress designer running a workshop on the business behind fashion; sponsors Gaia Technologies will be holding animation and computer programming sessions; and DHL is hosting a number of work stations giving students the chance to understand and try out logistics.

“Underpinning it all is the opportunity for prospective students to meet with some of the companies who’ll be offering work experience opportunities, and the chance to get to know what careers they’d like first-hand experience in," said Mr Lockwood.

"There’s no point doing work experience in an area in which you’re not interested– so our taster experience sessions will help students to not only make the right curriculum choices but to also be able to access the right work experience for them.”

Logic’s first Open Day will be held on November 18th from 11am to 6.30pm.
