Police investigating an apparently unprovoked assault at Harrow on the Hill station which left a young man unconscious have issued new CCTV images.

A 22-year-old man was punched and then kicked as he fell to the floor at the station on Friday July 24, knocking him out and leaving him with cuts, bruises and a broken cheek bone.

Detectives at British Transport Police (BTP) issued a fresh appeal on Wednesday (August 24), releasing new CCTV images of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the attack.

Detective Constable Chris Church said: "This man left the train at Pinner station so I believe he has connections there. If you recognise him, please do contact us."

Police investigating an assault at Harrow on the Hill station want to speak to this man

The victim had been walking through the station ticket area just before 2pm that day when he bumped into his attacker, police have said.

The man - who police said had already provoked an altercation with a group of men on the station stairs – immediately became hostile to the victim.

He proceeded to punch the victim several times and then kicked him as he fell to the floor.

Police said the attack only ended when a member of staff bravely intervened, and without his actions the injuries could have been far worse.

Anyone with information is asked to contact BTP by text on 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 204 of 9/8/2016. Alternatively, to remain anonymous, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
