Hounslow is set to star in a new TV documentary about the availability of council housing, getwestlondon can reveal.

The borough is the setting for the fourth series of Channel 4 programme How To Get A Council House.

The show looks at those desperately looking for a place to live, and the local authorities seeking to meet the demand.

Previous series have been shot in Manchester, Portsmouth and Tower Hamlets.

A spokeswoman for Studio Lambert said the majority of filming for series four was based around Hounslow.

This note about drone filming for the Channel 4 show How to Get a Council House was posted outside the Civic Centre in Hounslow

She told getwestlondon most of the filming was already complete, with drone filming on Friday (March 11) due to be one of the last days.

She added a transmission date had yet to be confirmed but the series was likely to air in May.

The number of households waiting for a council home in Hounslow stood at 8,504 in April 2015, according to government figures, having risen from 6,842 the previous year.

The waiting list had reached 12,284 in 2012, with the subsequent fall partly down to the council’s decision to exclude those without a reasonable hope of securing a new council home.

Scenes from the new ITV drama Doctor Thorne were also shot in the borough , at Osterley Park.
