An MTV-accredited music artist based in Ealing has released a music video to raise awareness of mental health and collect £1,500 for the charity YoungMinds.

Missy McAnulty teamed up with the charity for her latest single and music video entitled Power of the Mind.

Through single sales and music video sponsorship, the artist hopes to raise £1,500 for YoungMinds, a charity which supports the mental well-being of children and adolescents.

The project aims to "highlight the effects of ill mental health in young people" and Missy said she was motivated by her own personal experience with anxiety.

She said: "Being someone who had the love and support from my family when going through anxiety from an early age, it made me feel so upset to think there are young people who don't have the support I had.

She continued: "That's why I admire the work that YoungMinds do with adults also.

“I think it's important for adults to have the knowledge of poor mental health in young people, it means we can tackle it all together.”

According to the Ealing-based singer, the video displays characters in a battle with their own mental health and what can happen when a person is afraid to reach out.

The actors involved are those who have gone through difficult experiences, a deliberate part of the casting requirements, ensuring the emotions of all actors were authentic and would mirror real life experiences.

Speaking about the project's aim, Missy added: "I hope to inspire individuals to reach out for help, as this is one of the most important routes to recovery.

"The video aims to encourage those to break free from negative or intrusive thoughts and I am aiming to raise £1,500 for this incredible charity that will make such a difference."
