Victims of bike thefts across the capital are being urged to attend a display of stolen bikes in an attempt to reunite them with their owners.

More than 100 bicycles will be displayed at Kennington Police Station on Sunday (November 27) between 10am and 5pm.

They were mostly taken within the past 14 months and range in makes and styles, with the lowest valued at around £70 and the most expensive at £5,000.

Anyone wanting to find their stolen bike needs to bring proof of ownership and identity, such as a frame number, a receipt, a photograph of the bike and/or personal knowledge of the bicycle.

Sergeant Ian Ring, from the Metropolitan Police’s Roads and Transport Policing Command, said: “The Met has recovered a lot of stolen bicycles, which are still to be claimed.

“People are obviously devastated when their cherished bicycle is stolen and they have to replace it or do without.

“We would like to see these bikes in our possession reunited with their rightful owners. If you have been a victim of cycle theft and think one of these bikes is yours, please come to the open day.”

Mechanics from PemPeople Bike Project will also be at the event to deliver advice and minor repairs free of charge.

It takes place at the police station in Kennington Road, SE1 7QA.
