One person has died and five people have been injured during a spate of shocking "moped crimes" in the capital since the start of October.

The worrying incidents include stabbings and acid attacks, with 11 serious reports in total in just the past six weeks.

Among the most high profile was the arrest of two teenagers in connection with a suspected acid attack, which left a 32-year-old man fighting for his life in hospital - and "likely to lose the sight in both eyes".

There was also another suspected acid attack on a delivery driver the same day (November 2).

Moped-related crimes in the capital have risen seven-fold since 2014, and the Metropolitan Police has since announced new measures to tackle such crimes.

New tactics include forensic tagging and introducing four new purpose-built bikes, as well as mobile remote controlled stinger traps the Met hopes will discourage moped criminals.
