A mystery minicab ride ended in a jet set adventure for one lucky Chiswick couple.
Richard Madeley (not that one) and his boyfriend Alex Londono were whisked off in a private plane to Ibiza, where they enjoyed the VIP treatment.
He was among 23,000 Londoners using the minicab app Uber who had entered a competition run by vodka manufacturer Absolut to win a trip to a secret destination.
Richard was in the office on the morning of Friday August 19, when he found out he had won.
He was cheered on by colleagues as he jumped into a waiting Uber cab and headed to the airport, where he, Alex and six other winners boarded a private jet.
'I loved the idea of taking a spontaneous holiday'
The destination was only revealed as the clubbers' nirvana Ibiza once they were on board - and the surprises didn't end there.
The 24-hour adventure incorporated a private yacht cruise and a slap-up dinner before culminating at the legendary nightclub Space, where the competition winners partied until the small hours.
"I entered the competition because I loved the idea of taking a spontaneous holiday," said Richard, a 35-year-old learning partner and actor.
"If we hadn't been in Ibiza we would have been working and seeing friends and family.
"When I found out I won, I was delirious! It was our first time in Ibiza and we loved everything about the trip; there were so many wonderful surprises along the way, the highlight being the drag queens at Space."
