Michael Sobell Hospice got the celebrity treatment with a deserving DIY make-over.
BBC Changing Rooms presenter and interior designer, Linda Barker, officially opened a new family room and revealed it to staff at the hospice on Wednesday (August 19).
Uxbridge shopping centre, intu Uxbridge, were behind the revamp for the local hospice and palliative care centre.
The shopping centre sent in a team of intu staff to give their family room a revamp turning it into a fresh, welcoming room for relatives to relax in.
Teams got to work giving the room a new look with a lick of paint provided by Wickes, plus furnishings and furniture from Next at intu Uxbridge.
Lisa Trodd, assistant marketing manager at intu Uxbridge, said: “It was fantastic to be able to support our chosen charity of the year Michael Sobell Hospice by giving their family room revamp this week, with thanks to our wonderful staff.
“We hope that the new rooms will be warmly welcomes by families of those under their care.”
Ursula Reeve, head of palliative care at Michael Sobell Hospice, was “delighted” with the make-over.
She said: “The new look family room is bright, comfortable and welcoming and will be a lovely area for our patients, their families and our staff to spend time in. Many thanks to everyone involved at intu Uxbridge for making this project happen.”
intu Uxbridge is supporting Michael Sobell Hospice this year, with an aim to raise £25,000 to fund a nurse for a year.
Visitors can also contribute at the centre by dropping spare change into collection boxes and paying to select songs on the jukebox on the Lower Mall, or by purchasing a limited edition butterfly brooch from the Customer Service desk.
