The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of rain for London on Friday (July 22) as the hot weather looks set to end with heavy downpours.

The warning, which is in place from midday to Friday night could see around 50mm could be set to fall on the capital in two to three hours, alongside thunderstorms.

Around 20-30mm of rain is being predicted to fall in a very short space of time by the Chief Forecaster.

These could break out in the early afternoon before fading out into the evening, with forecasters saying that many places will miss the heaviest downpours, but the location of the largest amounts of rainfall is currently unpredicatable.

The Met Office are warning people of the potential of localised flooding, difficult driving conditions and disruption to travel.

This is one of a number of several weather warnings that have been issued in the past few months, with the last one seeing flash flooding hit North Harrow, closing Station Road .
