A man has been arrested for allegedly making racially charged threats against a woman, believed to be Brexit Supreme Court campaigner Gina Miller.

The 50-year-old was picked up by police in Knightsbridge on Wednesday (January 25) morning and arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated malicious communications.

It follows a complaint made on November 6 by a 51-year-old woman relating to threats made online, and a second unrelated comment believed to have been made by the same suspect in August 2016.

The arrested man is currently in custody at a central London police station.

Police would not comment whether Ms Miller is the alleged victim, but say officers had issued eight cease and desist notices - where individuals are advised that to continue with their current actions or behaviour could result in police action - to people in various parts of the UK, as part of the same investigation.

Ms Miller was behind a successful High Court challenge which deemed Parliament should vote on whether the UK can start the process of leaving the EU.
