A man found with cocaine and a stun gun at his home was spared jail after arguing the drugs were for him and his friends to take at a rave.

Police searched Curtis Blake's flat in Jubilee Close, Pinner, on January 15 and found 5.6g of cocaine, 28.5g of cannabis and two cannabis plants. They also found a stun gun under a bed, Isleworth Crown Court heard.

Ruxana Nasser, prosecuting, told the court on Tuesday (September 29), that the 20-year-old had swallowed some cocaine in the flat before trying unsuccessfully to escape from officers.

"The officers had to try to remove what he had swallowed from his mouth and the upper part of his throat with a spoon. London Ambulance Service was called and he was taken to Ealing Hospital," she said.

Blake admitted possession of a cocaine with intent to supply, producing cannabis, possession of cannabis, possession of a prohibited weapon and obstructing a constable.

Ms Nasser told the court Blake had claimed he planned to use the cocaine and share it with friends, whom he did not intend to charge for the drugs, at a 48-hour rave due to begin on the day his flat was searched.

Lawrence Selby, defending, said the stun gun had been left at the flat by a friend of Blake's and had never been used.

"It's clear the reason for his offending is that Blake is immature, lacks credibility in his decision-making and I hope the court will forgive me when I say his actions were downright stupid," he added.

"The question is whether stupidity deserves a second chance and guidance. He's young, motivated and has work. It's clear today is a real crossroads for him."

Blake was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment, suspended for two years, and a supervision order requiring him to complete 19 sessions.
