Police are appealing for information following a shooting near a children's play area.

London Ambulance Service called police at 3pm on Wednesday (May 27) to Heron Close, in Willesden, to a man suffering from gunshot wounds, a Met Police spokesman said.

The 33-year-old man was rushed to hospital with leg injuries and is currently described as being in a serious but stable condition.

Police believe that one or more shots were fired.

Detective Sergeant Jez Dargan said: "The shooting took place in a residential estate in the middle of the afternoon.

"The local schools are currently on half-term and this shooting occurred very close to a children's play area.

"We are appealing to anybody who was in the area at the time who saw or heard anything to contact us."
