A man has been jailed for engaging in sexual activity with a child.

Camaine Callender, 23, of Elgin Mews, Ladbroke Grove , was found guilty at Isleworth Crown Court on Wednesday (July 13), of four counts of sexual activity with a child between August 24, 2014 and December 31, 2014.

Callender was arrested on March 18, 2015 after the victim, a girl aged in her teens, came forward to police alleging that Callender had been having sex with her. He had been known to the victim.

Callender was charged following an investigation by the Met's Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command. He was remanded in custody until the trial commenced on Monday June 27 and convicted as above.

Detective Constable Darren Stedman, from the Met's Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command, said: "I commend the victim for her courage in reporting the offences to police.

"We are committed to tackling child sexual exploitation. A dedicated Sexual Exploitation Team sits within the Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command, and its sold remit is to investigate offences of this nature."
