A man has been viciously attacked in an attempted robbery in which the three suspects also subjected him to homophobic abuse.

Detectives from Kensington and Chelsea Borough are appealing for information and witnesses following the violent attempted robbery.

The 38-year-old victim was approached by three men on St Charles Place at the junction with Chesterton Road, in North Kensington, at 3.35am on Saturday (February 14).

The suspects tried to steal the man's mobile phone and ring before pushing him to the ground where he was kicked and punched.

The victim suffered facial injuries but did not require hospital treatment.

Trainee Detective Constable Rhys Williams, from Kensington and Chelsea Borough's Community Safety Unit, said: "The victim was subjected to homophobic abuse before being kicked and beaten.

"I would urge anyone who saw the assault or men matching the description of the suspects in the area to contact police. I am particularly keen to speak with a man and woman who approached the victim shortly after the attack to check on his welfare."

The suspects are all described as black men, aged in their 20s, they were all wearing grey tracksuits; one suspect was also wearing a blue cap with a white Adidas logo.
