A man is set to stand trial for allegedly breaching security and locking himself inside the cockpit of a British Airways plane at Heathrow Airport.

Louis Costa, 38, of Stonehill Road, Hounslow , entered a not guilty plea at an initial hearing at Uxbridge Magistrates Court on Monday (March 7).

He has been remanded on conditional bail until March 22, when a trial is due to begin at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court.

The Metropolitan Police said Louis Pedro Verdasca dos Santos Costa was charged in connection with the incident on Saturday (March 5) on two counts of unlawfully being airside, and unlawfully being on an aircraft.

They said firefighters were called to break into the bomb and bullet proof cockpit of the Boeing 747, designed to protect pilots from acts of terrorism, where an intruder had locked himself inside after slipping through the airport’s perimeter fence.
