A man has died following a cardiac arrest at a newly-opened Aldi in South Ruislip on Thursday (May 19), police have confirmed.

Shoppers and passers-by were concerned when ambulance vehicles and police cars were spotted , but police said no crime had been committed.

A man was later hospitalised after it transpired he had gone into cardiac arrest at the scene.

Inspector Rob Bryan, of the Metropolitan Police , told getwestlondon on Monday (May 23): "A man collapsed and was taken to hospital. Sadly, he died and next of kin have been informed."

London Ambulance Service (LAS) confirmed they were called at 4.05pm on Thursday to reports of an unwell person in Victoria Road.

The LAS spokesman said: “We sent an ambulance crew and a single responder by car to the scene.

“We treated a man in cardiac arrest at the scene and took him to hospital as a priority”.
