A man has died after falling from a bridge over the A40, during the busy rush hour period, in Hillingdon.

London Ambulance Service (LAS) were called at 6.25pm to reports of an incident on the A40, at the Long Lane junction of Western Avenue, on Thursday (March 17).

An LAS spokesperson said: “We sent our hazardous area response team, two ambulance crews, an incident response officer and London’s Air Ambulance to the scene.”

“Sadly, despite the extensive efforts of our crews, a person was pronounced dead at the scene by the doctor from London’s Air Ambulance.”

A London Air Ambulance spokesperson said: "Our advanced trauma team was dispatched via rapid response car, by London Ambulance Service, at 18:28 to a fall from height on Long Lane."

Metropolitan Police officers also attended the scene, after being called minutes after the ambulance service.

A spokesperson said they responded to reports that a man had fallen from a bridge on the Western Ave (A40), near Long Lane in Hillingdon.

The spokesperson said: "Officers attended and found a man with serious injuries.

"London Ambulance Service attended.

"Diversions were in place while emergency services dealt with the incident".
