A man has been charged following the sexual assault of a woman in Acton.

Omar Nedal Eldeeb, 25, of no fixed address, was charged on Wednesday (June 28) with two counts of assault by penetration under the Sexual Offences Act.

Police say an investigation into the assault was launched after a 21-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in Springfields Gardens in Acton, in the early hours of the morning on Tuesday June 20.

Following the investigation by detectives from the Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command, Eldeeb was arrested on Tuesday (June 27).

He is set to appear at Ealing Magistrates' Court on Thursday (June 29).
