A man has been arrested after police uncovered a "hi-tech" cannabis factory in Hounslow .

Officers found three rooms filled with cannabis plants when they raided the property in Maswell Park Crescent, Hounslow, on Friday (April 15) morning.

Sgt Mark Ogunwe, of Hounslow police, said: "It was quite a well-run cannabis factory, with three rooms of plants and all the equipment set up. It was quite hi-tech compared to some we've found."

He said one man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of producing a class B drug and was being held in custody on Friday afternoon.

Police were not able to say on Saturday (April 16) whether the man had been bailed or charged, or if he remained in custody.

Friday was a busy day for the Hounslow town centre policing team.

Officers also discovered a knife and four empty laughing gas cannisters in the car park opposite Yates' pub, in Bath Road, Hounslow, and cleared needles and empty beer cans found near the entrance to a school.

The previous day, police had found six knives hidden in the flowerbed of Inwood Park , close to Hounslow High Street.

Police in Hounslow promised to ramp up the use of stop-and-search after a spate of stabbings in Hounslow, including the killing of Sahil Roy in Isleworth.

Annual crime figures published last week showed knife crime rose across London last year , though police in Hounslow said it had fallen in the borough.
