A vehicle has caught fire on the westbound M4 on Tuesday morning (October 31).

Emergency services are at the scene dealing with the car fire, Highways England has confirmed.

The incident shut all three lanes westbound between junctions 2 for Brentford and junction 3 for Hayes.

There is heavy traffic in the area, with queues reportedly building beyond the Chiswick Flyover. Motorists are being asked to be be patient .

Large number of calls reported car fire

Here is the story after a car caught fire on the M4 between Brentford and Hayes.

The Bridge said it had received nearly 50 calls reporting the incident.

This isn’t the first fire on the westbound M4 this month.

On October 15 a car caught fire on the westbound carriageway between junction 2 for Brentford and the A4 and junction 3 for the A312. at around 8am.

The road was temporarily shut to allow emergency services access to the vehicle.
