There are a number of problems for M25 drivers with a crash, car fire and runaway horse near Heathrow all causing queues of traffic.
A crash at Junction 16 on the clockwise carriageway has closed one lane and is causing congestion back to Staines.
Further round, in Hertfordshire, a lane has been closed in the anti-clockwise carriageway between Junction 17 and Junction 16 due to a broken down car.
And, perhaps most bizarrely of all, a runaway horse near Heathrow has caused queues on the spur road into Terminal 5.
Yes, a horse. At Heathrow.
Three lanes of the motorway between Chertsey and Wisley have been closed due to a car fire.
Traffic service INRIX reported at 1.40pm that three lanes on the anticlockwise carriageway between junction 11 and junction 10 were closed.
Congestion is reported to have already reached back to junction 15 (M40/Uxbridge).
The fire has been put out, but the fire brigade remains on the scene.

The most bizarre delay today? Runaway horses near Heathrow of course.
The loose animals were spotted around the link road on the clockwise section at Junction 14 Heathrow.

Lane two of the A322 Southbound in Bagshot is currently closed.
A Fiesta has broken down and is stuck in park. Surrey Police is at the scene but their unmarked car can’t tow the Fiesta away...

Traffic slow on M25 clockwise
All lanes have been re-opened but traffic remains slow due to earlier broken down vehicle on M25 clockwise at J10 A3 (Wisley Interchange).
Godalming road blocked
The A3100 Wharf Street is blocked northbound due to a collision near Woolsack Way.
A car has mounted the railings outside Waitrose, blocking the road.
Eek! The M25 is looking very congested this afternoon - avoid the motorway if you can.
All lanes re-opened
Most of the problems on the M25 have eased now, and while there is still congestion around junction 10 the broken down car has been cleared so that should be getting back to normal as well.
Public help corral horse near Heathrow
We’ve been sent these videos shot by Lorna Wellbelove while her partner, Kirsty Ault, and other members of the public helped round up two stray horses on the M25 spur road to Heathrow Terminal 5.
The horses now appear to be under control.
There have also been some problems on the M23 near Gatwick Airport due to a broken down car.
The car seems to have been cleared, but you should still allow extra time for your journey, especially if you’re planning to catch a flight.
As one problem is solved, another emerges
Traffic has eased after the car fire between junction 11 and junction 10 earlier this afternoon.
However, a broken down car on the clockwise carriageway at junction 10 has caused a lane closure, slow traffic and congestion back to Cobham Services.
You’re probably best off still avoiding the M25 if possible.

Severe delays on the M25
This incident, and a number of others, mean the entire western part of the M25 is suffering severe delays. Avoid.
Traffic service INRIX reports all lanes have been re-opened, but there are still delays and the burnt-out car is now on the hard shoulder awaiting recovery.
