English actor Bill Nighy switched on the Christmas lights near Imperial Wharf.
He was at the Design Centre on Thursday (December 1) for The Twinkle of Christmas event, which had an enchanted forest as its theme.
A big crowd turned up to watch the actor, who has appeared in Love Actually, The Boat that Rocked and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, illuminate the glass domes with thousands of twinkling lights.
Now in its seventh year, the event is a much-anticipated annual tradition and was attended by top designers and high-profile style-setters.
In keeping with the enchanted forest theme, the centrepiece was a canopy of twinkling branches, white with snow, cascading through the centre dome. Woodland creatures, hand-carved and larger-than-life, also made their home in the design’s natural habitat, among the guests.
The Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour is a platform for creative disciplines in the capital and supports creative expression across the design agenda.
Visitors are welcome to see the installation until December 23.
