It's that time of the year again - we all look forward to a Bank Holiday rest and hope May will offer up some sunny weather to match.

To keep up with almost a lifetime of traditions, Londoners have endured yet another damp Bank Holiday Monday.

And in typical Great British fashion, the rain will clear as we all re-start our morning commute on the underground, from Tuesday (May 2) onwards.

The Met Office said bright spells will finally come our way on Tuesday (May 2) morning.

Emma Salter, a meteorologist at the Met Office, confirmed the usual British trend of a damp Bank Holiday Monday, with the weather clearing up as everyone heads back to work.

She said: "Across London and the south east we'll see some showers and even some rumbles of thunder.

"Monday is the wettest day of the week with still some bits and pieces of rain through to Wednesday and Thursday.

"The rain will be gradually clearing up throughout the week and the good news is next weekend is looking good so far."

It'll still be rather cloudy on Wednesday and Thursday, but with some brighter spells.

It looks as though the next time London will see some sunshine is Sunday (May 7) when temperatures will reach around 13 degrees.
