Given how much we moan about the cold and rain during the winter, we really should be grateful for the incredible summer we are having.

But for some the endless, sticky days and nights are becoming difficult to endure.

As usual, the capital is one of the hottest and driest places in the country, much to the chagrin of gardeners.

With grass sparse and yellow, the ground baked hard and hosepipe bans elsewhere in the country, even the most fervent sun-worshipper would surely not begrudge a bit of rainfall soon.

This being Britain, showers are normally an inevitability but with several false alarms so far during this heatwave, when do forecasters now think it might rain next?

We have taken a look at various long-term weather forecasts for different parts of London to find out when it is likely to rain next where you live.

If you haven't had a chance to work on your tan yet, there is plenty of time left

Barking and Dagenham

Forecast for the next 10 days: The unbroken spell of sunshine we have been experiencing seems to be over although temperatures are still in their high 20s. The lows on some nights are even 18C so keep those fans out, you might well need them.

When is it expected to rain: Some light rain is forecast for Saturday (July 21) but that's about it until more light rain is forecast on Sunday, July 29 and Monday, July 30.

Barnet

Forecast for the next 10 days: Barnet's weather will be a little cloudier than what we've been seeing over the last few weeks and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Peak temperatures are expected to remain between 25C and 30C.

When is it expected to rain: Mercifully for your lawns and parks, there is a little bit of rain expected to come to Barnet this Friday evening (July 20). A little more is forecast on Saturday morning at around 6am and Saturday afternoon at about 2pm. After that, the dry spell resumes as does the blazing sunshine with no more rain until Sunday, July 29 and Monday, July 30.

Brent

Forecast for the next 10 days: Unlike previous weeks, expect to see plenty of cloud cover in the sky. Despite the shade, temperatures are expected to remain in the high 20s during the daytime and won't dip below 15C at night.

When is it expected to rain: All that cloud cover still won't produce very much rain. But there is some forecast for this Friday evening from 6pm to 10pm and a little more for Saturday morning at around 7am and Saturday afternoon at about 2pm. Next week then looks like being another glorious one before rain falls on Sunday, July 29 and Monday, July 30.

Bromley

Forecast for the next 10 days: It's still blisteringly hot in Bromley but there may be more cloud cover than we have been used to recently over the rest of the week.

When is it expected to rain: A tiny bit of rain is being forecast for Saturday morning at about 8am. After that no rain is forecast until the evening of Sunday, July 29, with more following on Monday, July 30.

Croydon

Forecast for the next 10 days: Croydon temperatures will range from 25C to 30C for the next 10 days, with today (Wednesday, July 18) expected to be the coolest day for some time. Nighttime temperatures will hover between 15C and 17C over the same period.

When is it expected to rain: A very brief shower is possible on Friday evening at about 9pm but after that it is more sunshine until the evening of Sunday, July 29 when we may finally see some more rain. Even then, though, only light rain is forecast, with more predicted on Monday, July 30.

Ealing

Forecast for the next 10 days: The grass in Ealing needs plenty of healing, but the sunshine is set to persist. You will want to carry shades, sunscreen and a hat with you tomorrow (Thursday) when a day of a non-stop sunshine and temperatures as high as 29C are forecast. Next week is currently looking nice too.

When is it expected to rain: Ealing will get some rainfall on Friday afternoon and evening between 4pm and 8pm, meteorologists predict. More brief bouts will follow at 6am and 2pm on Saturday but we then face another wait for some more rain with no more forecast until 10pm on Sunday, July 20.

Enfield

Forecast for the next 10 days: Some cloud is likely over the next few days but temperatures are expected to remain in the high 20s.

When is it expected to rain: Lucky Enfield has a decent chance of getting some rain on Friday (July 20) although only briefly at around 9pm. More is forecast for early on Saturday morning and for about 2pm on Saturday afternoon. It's then a week-long wait for a little more light rain on Sunday, July 29 and Monday, July 30.

Greenwich

Forecast for the next 10 days: Greenwich will continue to swelter, although this time in a little more shade than we've had over the last month or so. Next week will be particularly warm and sunny, though, with highs of 30C on Monday (July 23) and Tuesday (July 24).

When is it expected to rain: Some light rain is expected on Friday evening (July 20) at around 9pm followed by a little more on Saturday morning at about 8am and another shower at 2pm. But it shouldn't be enough to spoil any plans for the weekend and more isn't likely to fall then until Sunday, July 29 and Monday, July 30.

Harrow

Forecast for the next 10 days: Harrovians can expect plenty more sunshine, particularly tomorrow (Thursday, July 19) and next Tuesday. Temperatures will dip a few degrees on Saturday, but are back up to 29C by Monday.

When is it expected to rain: On Friday evening between 6pm and 10pm there is a decent chance of some showers, with another couple of flurries on Saturday morning and afternoon. After that nothing more is forecast until Sunday, July 29, although Monday, July 30 does look like being pretty miserable with constant rain forecast from 8am to 3pm.

Hillingdon

Forecast for the next 10 days: Tomorrow (Thursday, July 19) and next Monday (July 23), Tuesday (July 24) and Wednesday (July 25) look like absolute scorchers, with hot and sunny weather forecast all day and temperatures potentially hitting 30C.

When is it expected to rain: More rain is forecast in Hillingdon on Friday than in most other parts of London. Light rain is forecast from 2pm to 8pm, with a little more coming down between 6am and 7am on Saturday. After that the weekend and following week should be lovely. But more rain is forecast on Sunday, July 29 with Monday, July 30 looking a horror, with rain forecast from 8am to 6pm.

Hounslow

Forecast for the next 10 days: Tomorrow (Thursday, July 19) should be a cracker with lots of sunshine and temperatures hitting 28C. There is a little more cloud forecast for next week but temperatures will remain high and there should still be plenty of sunshine.

When is it expected to rain: There are some light rain showers forecast for Friday evening from 5pm to 8pm. A couple more showers are forecast for 7am and 2pm on Saturday (July 21) but it's then another long wait until Sunday, July 29 for more rain. Monday, July 30 at present looks like being a bit of a stinker with rain forecast from 9am to 6pm.

Sutton

Forecast for the next 10 days: While we will see a little more cloud than in recent weeks temperatures will remain in the mid to high 20s for most of the next week, with plenty of sunshine between the cloudy spells.

When is it expected to rain: It's still going to be quite dry unfortunately for gardeners. The best we can offer is the promise of a brief shower at 9am on Saturday and then it's a wait until Sunday, July 29 and Monday, July 30 for any more.

Walthamstow

Forecast for the next 10 days: We can continue to expect warm, sunny weather for most of the next week. Next Monday and Tuesday should be the hottest days, with temperatures reaching 29C.

When is it expected to rain: Rain is expected to reach Walthamstow on Friday (July 20) but a brief shower at 9pm is all we are likely to see. A brief flurry at 7am on Saturday is then forecast before a dry week ahead of more rain on Sunday, July 29 and Monday, July 30.
