London is set to sizzle hotter than Madrid this weekend as temperatures heat up on Sunday.

Highs of 18 degrees are predicted by the Met Office, with peak sun times to be around 4pm in the afternoon.

Those in the city will enjoy a hot weekend compared to temperatures of 12 degrees in usually warmer cities such as Barcelona.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "It's feeling warmer than of late, with prolonged sunny spells.

"It's rather unsettled, but with sunny or bright spells."

Saturday will see a mainly dry and sunny start, some cloud developing through the day.

However, temperatures are still warmer than they have been in light of Storm Katie passing over the city , with highs of 15 degrees predicted by meteorologists.

Warm spells are not predicted to last and April showers are soon to be making their way to London as the week progresses.
