Frantic Friday is set to be the one of the busiest days of the year on our roads and already the M25 is experiencing a number of issues.

All traffic has been held at Junction 10, on the clockwise carriageway after a van and three cars collided near the junction.

Elsewhere, at Junction 13, near Staines, there was severe congestion caused by an earlier crash, with traffic still slow to recover.

As rush hour continues, more delays are expected to emerge, with roads including the A40, M40, A4, M4 and A406 also vulnerable to severe traffic delays.

Motorists have been warned by the RAC to expect a "Frantic Friday", caused by the usual heavy commuter traffic as well as millions of leisure trips thanks to school holidays beginning in England and Wales.

RAC traffic spokesman Rod Dennis said: "This weekend tends to be one of the busiest on the roads for leisure journeys, second only to Easter and Christmas.

"On some popular routes, this may well mean gridlock, especially through the second half of Friday when commuters and holidaymakers will be sharing space on the same stretches of the UK’s roads. As a result, it will almost certainly feel like a ‘frantic Friday’ for some."
