A long serving worker at the Mcvitie's factory in Harlesden has been celebrating an incredible 50 years with the company and has been rewarded with a lifetime supply of biscuits.

Frank Ahluwalia, 68, has worked at Europe's biggest biscuit factor for half a century and was honoured with a ceremony at the site on Tuesday (October 12).

He is the first worker to ever be welcomed into the McVitie's Golden Biscuit Club, which means he will have have biscuits to accompany his cup of tea for the rest of his life.

'I'm thrilled to be celebrating 50 years'

Frank, who is head of hygiene control at the factory, said: “I'm thrilled to be celebrating 50 years at the McVitie's factory with so many of my colleagues today.

“A lot has changed in the half a century I've been part of the pladis family.

“It's a great honour to be the first employee in the McVitie's Golden Biscuit Club and I would like to thank pladis for this honour.”

2.7 million biscuits a year

Frank was joined by the Harlseden factory general manager Nina Spark and was presented with a special gold coin at the ceremony.

Each year the Harlesden site makes over 2.7million packets of biscuits, which just shows the scale of the job Frank has done for the last 50 years.
