A huge fire at a caravan site in Park Royal on Monday (October 23) was thought to be started by a firework.

Six fire engines and 35 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at the site in Bashley Road at around 7.55pm.

According to a spokesman for the London Fire Brigade , officers believed the fire was caused by a firework.

A refuse area was completely destroyed by fire, which took nearly three hours to extinguish.

Speaking after the fire, Station Manager Andy Walton said: "When firefighters arrived it was quickly established that the fire was contained to a pile of refuse behind a wall adjacent to caravans.

"Fire crews worked with members of the travelling community to gain full access to the fire and worked hard to prevent the fire spreading."

The fire was under control by 10.38pm and fire crews from Park Royal, Acton, Willesden, North Kensington and Chiswick attended the scene.
