One week on from the murder of Yasir Beshira in Kilburn , detectives have renewed an appeal for information surrounding the fatal shooting.

Officers will return to the scene of the crime tonight (Thursday December 15), urging more witnesses to come forward and help to trace a 'hooded' suspect.

Last Thursday (December 8), 21-year-old Yasir died on the streets after he was shot in the stomach.

The Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC) launched a murder investigation after police were called at 5.20pm to reports of a man collapsed in Netherwood Street, Kilburn.

The victim was being helped by members of the public but was pronounced dead an hour later.

Yasir Beshira, 21, gunned down on Kilburn street

Police believe Yasir was approached by a lone male suspect in Palmerston Road and shot.

He then stumbled his way to Netherwood Street and collapsed.

Police cars and forensics swarmed into the NW road to investigate the scene

The suspect went off in the direction of Palmerston Road towards the Webheath Estate.

He is described as a slim white male wearing a dark hooded top with his hood up.

Detective chief inspector, Andy Partridge, who is leading the investigation, said:

"It's imperative that we trace the suspect's movements both before and after the attack.

"He is described as a slim white male, male wearing a dark hooded top with his hood up.

"During the shooting he had his lower face covered but it is possible that this person did not have his face covered both before and after the attack.

"Were you in and around Webheath Estate on Thursday, 8 December?

"Did you notice this male somewhere nearby?

"If you were there and saw anything that could assist investigators I would urge you to get in touch."

A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as a gunshot to the abdomen.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene

DCI Partridge added: "We are returning to the scene with local borough officers this evening, a week on from Yasir's murder, to trace any potential witnesses who may be able to assist with the investigation.

"We have had a positive initial response from the local community and a number of witnesses have already come forward, however we are still appealing for information."

A 22-year-old man was arrested on Saturday (December 10) on suspicion of murder and has been released on bail until a date in February 2017.

Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is asked to call the incident room on 0208 358 0300 or the police non-emergency line on 101.
