A property is being searched in Kensington after anti-terror police arrested a man.

The 61-year-old was picked up by officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command unit at about 4.10pm on Monday (September 12).

He was arrested on suspicion of possessing an article for a purpose connected with the commission, preparation or instigation of an act of terrorism contrary to Section 57 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

He remains in custody, arrested under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE).

Police say a search is continuing at an address in Kensington.

Earlier this month radical hate preacher Anjem Choudary, who rallied support ahead of the London 7/7 attacks, was jailed for five years.

He had been found guilty following a trial at the Old Bailey of inviting support for ISIS between June 29 2014 and March 6 2015.
