The driver filmed screaming abuse and threats at BBC presenter Jeremy Vine as he was cycling on a narrow road in Kensington says she is “not happy” after being warned she could face jail.

Shanique Syrena Pearson shouted foul-mouthed abuse, threatened to knock him out and made a gun sign at the television star during the road rage row last year in Hornton Street.

She was told she may face prison after being convicted at Hammersmith Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (February 1) morning of road rage offences .

The 22-year-old single mother left court with a jacket over her head and told the press outside: “I’m not happy.”

Her actions on August 26 were captured on the helmet-cam of the Radio 2 DJ, who also hosts Crimewatch and Eggheads.

He uploaded footage of the incident to his Facebook page where it was viewed by more than a million people.

The court also heard it had received 15m views across the internet.

Speaking after delivering his verdict, District Judge Timothy King said he found Mr Vine, who did not attend the hearing, to be a “credible, truthful and reliable” witness who had not exaggerated his account of what happened.

“His manner of cycling was perfectly appropriate for the conditions,” he added.

He said it was reasonable that the presenter feared for his safety after Pearson threatened him and formed a weapon with her fingers cocked at his head.

Shanique Pearson, from Orsett Street in Vauxhall, appeared at Hammersmith Magistrates Court on Tuesday (November 8)

Pearson, who has a number of previous convictions including assaults and theft, rolled her eyes and shook her head as the decision was announced.

Her latest offences were committed while she was subject to a suspended sentence and her case has been sent to the crown court.

Judge King said: “The court will decide whether the suspended sentence imposed should be activated in whole or in part.”

Pearson’s defence lawyer, James O’Keeffe, said she has been vilified on social media after Vine posted the video online.

“He wanted that person to be punished, not just in court but on the internet and in the media, and she has been,” he added.

“She has been racially abused and suffered substantially because of that judgment by Mr Vine, someone prominent in the media, and he has had his 50 million hits.”

During the trial at Hammersmith Magistrates’ Court on January 13 , Mr O’Keeffe had said Mr Vine had “racially stereotyped her as a black person”.

The spat occurred as the 51-year-old made his way to work at BBC offices near Oxford Circus, from his home in Chiswick .

He was travelling along Hornton Street, which had parked cars on either side, but stopped after being hooted at by the driver of a black Vauxhall Corsa behind him.

In the video clip, Pearson can be heard screaming expletives at Vine, who tries to explain why he was riding down the centre of the narrow street, before she kicks and pushes the cyclist and his bike.

She denied making a threat, and claimed to have put her middle finger up at the presenter, who she thought was “a bit crazy” for following her after their initial row.

Pearson, from Orsett Street in Lambeth, has been convicted of driving an unlicensed vehicle, driving without reasonable consideration for other road users and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour.

Detective Inspector Driss Hayoukane, from Notting Hill CID, said: “Road rage incidents like this are completely unacceptable. Threatening anyone with violence is unacceptable and a criminal offence.

“I hope this conviction serves as a warning and important reminder that all road users should be respected and those that make violent threats will be found and brought before the courts.”

Pearson was released on bail and will be sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court at a date yet to be set.
