It's not every day you see a pensioner starring in an electric/alternative music video which is receiving thousands of hits on YouTube.

Each of Them Echoes' debut single, Don't You See Me Go, features 84-year-old jazz drummer Don Cook playing along to the tune on his drums.

The video was filmed on a gloomy morning in September this year on Hounslow Heath, with Don taking centre stage.

While the music doesn't feature beats from Don, the father-of-two has performed in bands since he first picked up the marching snare in the Scots Guards at the age of 18.

Don, who has lived in Isleworth for the past 50 years with his wife Jenny, still plays regularly at the George & Dragon pub in Thames Ditton.

"I have played inside Holloway jail, on TV with Roy Hudd and in lots of unusual places but thought that in my eighties the strange gigs would be over," said Don.

Don first got into music when he was 18

He added: "They said they wanted a wanted a miserable old fart to go drumming on the Heath and I was a natural.

"It's great that this new music can get its beat from an old drum and drummer."

He also said he is not offended by the use of the f word in the lyrics, explaining: "I think these days that doesn't matter at all.

"James and Jona have something to say and they want to express it.

"There is something amazing about going worldwide at my time of life."

Each of Them Echoes is a genre-clashing electronic/alternative project of London-based artists Jona Rousseau and James Garside.

The video was the brainchild of James, but was produced by The Midnight Club.

Don has lived in Isleworth for the past 50 years

James, 32, said: "This whole project was born from our frustrations at being stuck, working in offices and not getting to spend as much time as we’d like on the things we enjoy most.

"I guess the video is symbolic of that - of not wanting to get to a point in life where you look back and realise you never got round to the things you really wanted."

The single will be coming out on EP Friday (December 1).
