A man who claimed he was looking after the drugs found at his home for a friend has been jailed for nearly three years.

Benjamin Scudder, from Isleworth, was arrested after police executed a drugs warrant at another flat in the same street on November 6 last year.

While searching a property, officers spotted a bag outside a window of Scudder's flat, in which they found crack cocaine, heroin and nearly £4,000 in cash, along with a mobile phone and debit card. They also found herbal cannabis inside the 24-year-old's flat.

He told police in custody he had been paid by a friend to look after the bag, and said he had panicked and thrown it out of his kitchen window when he heard police force their way into a nearby flat.

He later admitted three counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and a fourth of possession with intent to supply class B drugs. He was sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court last Friday (March 20), to 35 months in prison.

Detective Constable John Taylor, of Hounslow Crime Squad, said: "Hounslow borough takes drug dealing very seriously and we will do everything in our power to catch those responsible and put them before the courts.

"Scudder thought that as he was only holding the drugs for a friend he would not be held responsible. What this sentencing demonstrates is that the courts will hold people to account for drugs found in their possession, even if they belong to someone else."
