Fire crews cut through security shutters to tackle a midnight blaze at a curry restaurant in Isleworth .

London Fire Brigade sent three engines to the Layla Spice curry restaurant in St John's Road after being alerted at around 0.20am on Sunday (July 2).

Footage taken at the scene shows firefighters attempting to gain entry by cutting through the security shutters at the front of the restaurant.

There are residential apartments above the shops in this part of St John's Road.

A spokesman for London Fire Brigade confirmed it sent three engines to tackle the fire.

Crew remained at the scene for around one-and-a-half hours

"Part of the restaurant was damaged by the fire, which was under control by 1.55am," he added.

"There are no reports of any injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation."

The incident centred around the Layla Spice restaurant

An eyewitness told getwestlondon that he understood it to be a kitchen fire.

He added: "The premises were closed and locked, which made it a bit of a problem for London Fire Brigade to access."
