A mother is reaching out to find the couple that helped her after she was struck with excruciating back pain in Hayes End .
27-year-old Sam Maryan woke up on Monday (26 October) morning with a bad back, so she “plodded along” to the chemist, with her daughter, to buy paracetamol and deep heat, thinking it would go away.
She said: “I went into Iceland in Hayes End and my back got worse and by the time I left I couldn't walk, I felt prickles from the waist down.
Sam had a muscle spasm in her back which caused her severe pain and could barely move.
“This couple were sitting in their car, I didn't think anything of them. I managed to get to the car and my daughter opened the car door, got in and sat down but by that time I couldn't even sit.
“All of a sudden the lady in the car came over to me and asked if everything was all right and I just burst into tears.
“I said: 'I can't walk, I can't sit down, I can't do anything.”
The couple called 999 and asked for an ambulance but they said they wouldn't send one as it wasn't an emergency.
Still in pain, the couple, along with a nearby shopkeeper, helped Sam into their 4x4. The man drove Sam to A&E whilst the woman drove her car and her daughter home.
Speaking of the man, Sam said: “He took to me A&E, he got me out the car and registered and left. I said thank you but I was in so much pain I never got to ask his name.
“I just want to find them because it was just such a random act of kindness. There were loads of people in Iceland and not one person stopped.
“This couple were just so nice. Nobody ever does that anymore and I know I can't find them to say thank you.”
Sam describes the couple as being well dressed and spoken. The man had a cap on and is possibly called Mike, and the woman had short brown hair and wore glasses.
Mrs Maryan, who works as a catering assistant, says she was “apprehensive” at first because no one goes out of their way to help anymore.
She added: “I was so surprised and so grateful because I was in so much pain, they were my lifesavers.
“What they did saved me and my back. I didn't want my daughter to see me the way I was... They calmed me and my daughter down.
“I'd like to give them a big bunch of flowers, bottle of wine, anything, just say to thank you – I would never have expected anyone to help me the way they did.”
