A nightie worn by Ingrid Bergman is going under the hammer, accompanied by a frank assessment of the show in which it appeared.
The triple Oscar-winning actress wore the full-length turquoise nightdress in the 1967 ABC TV production The Human Voice.
The letter of authenticity includes an acerbic postscript from the wardrobe manager, who writes "it was a very dull play but Miss Bergman was up to her usual high standard".
The Swedish screen siren's nightdress is among many lots up for grabs at Chiswick Auctions' less than racy sounding Historical Documents & Ephemera Sale.
It is estimated to fetch between £200 and £300 when it goes under the hammer on Wednesday June 24, from 1pm.
